Monday Minute on February 8th

My Favorite Things

Hello everyone!  It’s Monday again which means it’s time for another Minute!  Although I’m writing this late I’m pleased that it’s still Monday.  I haven’t missed one yet this year and I hope *fingers-crossed* that I can keep this up for as long as possible.

But that’s beside the point!  Today I’m going to share with you some of my favorite TV shows, both past and present.  Let’s dive right in!

  • Past Favorites

The majority of the time when I was growing up, we did not have TV.  That meant that we didn’t watch modern or current TV shows, at least not often.  Netflix (the old Netflix – movies in envelopes show up in the mail – that apparently no one knows about anymore. Am I the only one???) was our best friend on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons.  Our favorites?  The Cosby Show and I Love Lucy were classic favorites that we watched basically every week.  However, our local library carried some good oldies as well that we occasionally brought home to change things up.  These included MacGyver and Gilligan’s Island.  It was extremely rare that any of these shows had questionable content.  This was a plus because when we were still fairly young, mom didn’t have a problem letting us watch some episodes while she was away or napping.  When we were a little older, junior high and high school age, all three of us (my brother included) really enjoyed When Calls the Heart.  After season 4 or 5, when *ahem* a certain person dies, and a certain actress was involved in big scandals, we lost interest and never picked it up again.

  • Current Favorites

I will be completely honest.  I hardly watch TV or movies anymore.  I can’t often justify sitting by myself for 1-2 hours, doing nothing but watching colorful movement on a screen.  I do partake occasionally (mostly for the sake of reviews on the blog), but I prefer to save TV time for the weekends with friends and family.  That being said, my favorite TV show right now is Blue Bloods.  We actually only discovered these a year and a half ago.  Before that, we were on a steady diet of Monk (Sharona wore revealing clothing that prompted us to find something else more conducive to my brother’s conscience.)  Foyle’s War is another family favorite, produced by the BBC.  Blue Bloods and Foyle’s War are both police/detective shows, but there is a big difference: Blue Bloods is modern day NYPD, while Foyle’s War follows Detective Foyle in his battles on the homefront in England, as he was too old to be drafted in WWII.

Until Next Time

Have you watched any of the TV Shows I mentioned?  What are your favorites, past and present?  Let me know in the comments below! 🙂
